PRR Named to Seattle Business Magazine 100 Best Companies to Work For 2017
Last night, we were honored as one of Seattle Business Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. The winners, hailing from cities all across the state of Washington, were chosen based on extensive confidential surveys completed by employees.
“Our people make PRR who and what we are, and that easily makes us one of the best companies to work for here in Washington,” notes Malika Klingler, PRR’s HR Director who also serves on PRR’s Board of Directors as Treasurer. “PRR is proud to provide an environment for our people to work on interesting, challenging projects that serve the greater good. It’s where we can blend our professional and personal values. The feedback and opinions of our employees are critical to the success of our business and unique workplace culture.”
The 2017 event marks the first time that PRR has made the Best Companies list. We are happy to announce that it’s our commitment to workplace environment and employee benefits that has helped us land in the top 15 for mid-sized companies.
Some of PRR’s employee benefits and perks include:
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and a traditional 401(k)
- Paid Family and Medical Leave
- Training allowances
- Mass transit subsidy
- People of Color affinity group
- Social Justice affinity group
- Employee-led fun committee
- Book club
- All-staff retreat, which flies in staff from all offices to Seattle at least once a year
On Thursday night, several team members joined more than 1,300 attendees at the gala held at the Washington State Convention Center. KIRO news anchor and “Voice of the Seahawks” Steve Raible was the event’s Master of Ceremonies, while guests were treated to a cover band playing top hits, an ice luge with complimentary cocktails, and a photobooth from SnapBar.
Each of the 100 Best Companies to Work For was recognized at the event and awards were presented to nine of the top-ranked companies in all size brackets.
Out of 30 mid-sized companies, we landed in the #13 position.
Results were based on confidential employee surveys as well as the company’s level of employee participation. The research firm Fieldwork Webwork compiled and ranked the detailed responses of thousands of employees who rated their firms anonymously in the following categories: benefits, communication, corporate culture, hiring/retention, executive leadership, performance standards, responsibility/decision making, rewards/recognition, training/education and workplace environment.
