As a Senior Research Coordinator at PRR, my business is telling stories. I leverage PRR's research and data landscape to build localized, participant-driven, evidence-based narratives that center the diversity and complexity of our local communities, that highlight our participants’ lived experiences, that resonate for a range of audiences, and that motivate actionable change. Issues surrounding equity and inclusion are the “guiding stars” that have anchored my professional development, and I’m delighted to bring that orientation to PRR, knowing that the work we do is helping to make our communities more inclusive, accessible, and dynamic. Outside of work, I help to direct an inclusive community theatre program at the Federal Way Community Center, coach bowling for Special Olympics, spend lots of time building community with queer and neurodivergent folks, and am deeply enthused about all things craft-adjacent (knitting; sewing; 3D printing; papercraft; sublimation).

For me, working at PRR is thrilling! The core part of my position is to grow the Baltimore office and PRR’s transportation and infrastructure practice on the East Coast. As a 24-year veteran of the transportation industry, it is most certainly a challenge that I welcome, because I love helping clients solve challenges and achieve their goals through strategic planning. I’m a proud member of several Transportation Research Board committees, Women’s Transportation Seminar Baltimore Chapter, and the Waterfront Partnership Board of Baltimore. When I’m not working, I’m traveling with my family. I always have a passport handy and a suitcase ready.

Working out of the Norfolk area, I offer public relations and media relations expertise to an array of clients. In our environment, health, and transportation sectors, I help agencies and localities around the country get important information to the communities who need to hear them. To me, engagement is about bringing a variety of voices into the process so that we work with communities to make lasting improvements. Outside of work, I’ve performed in musical theater and contributed as a writer. You can usually find me at the Norfolk Chrysler Museum or on the road visiting family.

At PRR, I work as a liaison between our clients and the various Chinese-speaking communities where they work, ensuring that key information is delivered effectively and appropriately to these audiences. I enjoy this work because it allows me to with both local and international members of the community. My volunteer experience covers tutoring, facilitating events, and community engagement, both in Seattle and Tucson, Arizona. When not at work you can find me at all different parks in Seattle with my husband and my two little boys, Vincent and Nicholas.

I build relationships with clients and community members to move projects forward in a positive direction. Engagement is ultimately about ensuring effective dialogue between the project team and the community. I love working with the talented PRR team to address the challenges and opportunities associated with every project, recognizing that true community engagement cannot rely on a one-size-fits-all approach. Outside of work, I volunteer with Out in National Security, an organization supporting LGBTQIA+ professionals. I have also worked on deliberative democracy and facilitation initiatives in Southwest Washington. In my personal time, I enjoy hiking and camping with my husband, reading nonfiction, and exploring the Portland food scene.

Vision statement of anti-racism.

An anti-racist PRR dismantles systems of advantage based on race when and wherever possible. We engage staff of all racial identities in dismantling white supremacy culture at work. This  includes personal ideologies, beliefs, and behaviors. And, it includes removing white supremacy culture from the systems, cultural messages, institutional policies, procedures, and practices that PRR and our staff interact with and inform. We believe it is not enough to be “not racist.” We must be “anti-racist.”
